National Alliance for Advanced Biofuels and Bioproducts An Algal Biofuels Research Consortium

The Department of Energy (DOE) is providing federal assistance under the Biomass Program to research, develop, and demonstrate biofuels production for transportation and stationary applications. Under the Program, three Consortia, two for algal-based systems and one for advanced cellulosic biofuels will be created and composed of multiple team members. The organizations will operate under a cooperative agreement with DOE, and the other Members will operate under sub agreements with the Consortium Lead. The Consortium Lead institution, the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, manages the activities undertaken by its members.

NAABB is directed by José Olivares with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in conjunction with the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center (DDPSC). His Executive Team includes Dr. Richard Sayre (DDPSC) and is comprised of eight top representatives from among the thirty one independent partner entities.
